How To Repurpose a Greeting Card in One Minute or Less

You’ll need scissors, a pencil, a ruler, and scotch tape.

Pick any greeting card that has two halves that are the same size, and cut it in half along the fold. If you feel icky about cutting up cards people gave you, start with your real estate agent and your landlord, guilt-free.

Line up the ruler from corner to corners diagonally, and draw a small ‘x’ to denote the center of the card. Fold each of the four sides to the center of the ‘x’. Use a square edge or a ruler to help fold stiffer cards. Cut where indicated.

Fold the cut tabs in, and the edge over, and tape. Repeat for both ends.

Do the same thing for the other side of the card. When you are doing the top of the card, fold the sides 1/8″ short of the center so the top comes out a bit larger. Slip both halves of your new box together.

Fill with cookies and send to me. Just kidding. Stick these to the tops of presents. Use them for gift card boxes. Fill them with treats. Or make them into pretty decor.

I find these just a little bit magical.

Depending on the style of card you use, the picture ends up centered on top, the card publisher or artist signature on the side or bottom, and the old card messages and signatures still mostly visible on the inside. (You can erase the ‘x’.)

Send it back to the sender with a surprise inside?

Make one, five, ten, or one hundred. Then share this article so your friends can too.

Much Love
